how to download from youtube

I recently needed to download a video from youtube, and after a lot of frustrating searching around online I found a great simple piece of software that solved the problem!

There are quite a few websites that claim to allow you to download video from youtube, and they do work for a while, but then youtube changes its file structure or something and they stop working! I wanted a way of downloading music videos to my own pc, so i could watch them with friends in the winter evenings :)

There's one software maker who i found specialises in making software applications to allow you to rip, record, convert and save all types of streaming video, but especially youtube flv video, and that maker is Applian Technology.

I've used the software for a while now, and have a big collection of video and audio that i;ve downloaded from youtube and all sorts of other websites with streamed video content, like last.fm for example. Its really good, works perfectly and never fails to rip whatever video I want :)
